Patent Situation
With the TGC method of tgcBIOMICS GmbH, targeted in vivo and in vitro induction of somatic transgenesis is made using specific properties of intracellular bacteria.
|
Until now, the use of intracellular living bacteria as gene carriers is reported primarily for DNA vaccination , . Some of the results of work on DNA vaccination are protected by patents. However, these "DNA vaccination patents" do not impair the use of the TGC method (see below), since these patents do not cover tgcBIOMICS' aim of organotrophic somatic transfection.
The rights to the patent pending PCT/EP98/08096 are owned by tgcBIOMICS GmbH. Extensive patent investigations and patent approval in Australia confirm that third-party patents do not restrict the protected rights. The international phases of patent filing are underway in the industrial countries. In the scope of continual development, additional technological leaps will be made, enabling tgcBIOMICS further protective rights for its platform technology.
